Since the start of my blog, I’ve written several pages on Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects like the Photo Waterdrop device and various home automation (domotics) topics. As time passes and technology improves, it’s time to move these older pages to the Archive section.
For example, the waterdrop device is still fun to build, but instead of using a keyboard and LCD display, I would now choose an Arduino (or ESP8266) with Wi-Fi and connect it to the Blynk library. You can control it from your smartphone!
My home automation setup has also changed. While I still use parts of the original setup, some components are now obsolete. For instance, I’ve moved away from open.sen.se for logging data and now use local Docker containers on my Synology and Intel NUC with InfluxDB and Grafana. Node-RED has become the core of my home automation setup. I want to start writing new pages with more current and up-to-date information.
Still, the archives are fun to read and contain useful information, so here they are. You can access them from the menu under diy-archive
